Halloween in gay Wilton Manors is a pretty big deal.  I mean, the amount of drag queens roaming the street goes up about 80% on the few days leading up to Halloween.  I kid, I kid.

In all seriousness, this year’s Halloween festivities will be a little different than we’re used to.  They’re calling it Manors Masquerade. According to Chris Cooper of the city of Wilton Manors’ Leisure Services Department, Wilton Drive will not be shut down for the Halloween festivities.  Actually, the Halloween festivities of this year aren’t really going to be on the Drive…they’ll be at Hagen Park behind City Hall.

Now, this shouldn’t really come as too much of a surprise to anyone who was following the drama that occurred after Stonewall.  Many businesses vocalized their concerns about the lack of business they were receiving due to the closed street.

Furthermore, there will not be any street booths which can also be attributed to the aforementioned complaints.

Soon after the opening of a new Chik-fil-A in Hollywood, the restaurant was met with protests over the chain’s alleged ties to anti-gay extremists.

Thirty people gathered Saturday at the new Hollywood restaurant, located on Sunset near the Los Angeles tourist district, to show their disapproval.

The protesters accuse Chik-fil-A of donating money and food to Focus on the Family and other Christian groups that work against LGBT rights.  Chik-fil-A is a Christian company.  Most of us already know that the chain doesn’t operate on Sundays, but a company spokeswoman says it doesn’t discriminate against anyone.

We all know him as Kim Kardashian’s ex, but Reggie Bush is actually a pretty good football player.  The Miami Dolphin’s player has abs of steel and a smile that is absolutely to die for.  Reggie’s got a pretty kick ass sense of style also.  Check out the gallery…

If you haven’t already heard, the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell law has officially been repealed.  Check out this extremely touching video of a young Alabama man serving the United States Military.  He makes a phone call from Germany, where he’s stationed, to his father that he’s gay.

The Pride Center in gay Wilton Manors will be holding their annual LGBT Senior Expo in the month of October!  The expo provides LGBT seniors with an overview of healthcare services that are available to the elder LGBT community.

Over 45 vendors will be present to address comments, questions and concerns, as well as providing informed advice.  An organic lunch will be served; first come first serve.  Lunch and Learn lectures will be provided by Medicare, HMO’s, Sex and Seniors and others.

There will also be onsite medical services.

Forbes.com rated Florida’s very own gay hub, Fort Lauderdale, as number 2 in their list of cities where young professionals are happiest. Well, as a young professional I can tell you that I’m pretty content with what’s goin on here.

What is there really to complain about?  Basically nothing!  We have a great climate, awesome beaches, amazing shopping and the best queens around!

This year’s gay Wilton Manors Halloween festivities might be a little different than we’re all used to.  Directly following Stonewall, many Wilton Drive businesses complained that the booths and exhibits were attracting business away from their shops and restaurants and were none too happy with the outcome of the event.

It seems that the powers to be had open ears because this year’s Halloween street fest, Manors Masquerade, will NOT feature any street booths.  Basically, the first 5,000 to show up get a trick or treat bag with vouchers, promotions and other goodies that local Wilton Manors businesses will pay to have put in there.

If there isn’t really going to be much going on, on the street then what will be going on?  Sound off, men!
