Simply Delish is History and Angel’s Debuts

On the ever so changing and expanding night life and restaurant seen on the drive we have some updates.

As you may have read here recently Village Pub Wilton Manors is open and well worth a visit. Yes fun crowds, friendly bartenders and a great new space. We also have the Infinity Lounge  adding a new vibe and distinct feel that was a welcome addition to the drive. Infinity Lounge is the perfect place and size for a more intimate cocktail.

Just down from the Village Pub in the former Simply Delish space is now the new Angel’s. Well the exterior  of Angel’s has a new coat of paint that went from fuchsia to a copper orange. From the interior so far it appears to be still in transition with the right side being closed off and most likely being redone. The left side of Angel’s looks pretty much the same as Simply Delish did so far.

There was 3 of us looking for lunch and 1 that was strictly with a vegan diet. We looked over the menu which appeared to the pretty familiar breakfast and lunch choices. Our vegetarian in the group inquired about if there was a “veggie burger” that they did not have. The Angel’s waiter was very friendly and recommended one of their salads but also said they would be willing to try and accommodate and make any of their other dishes to his liking. We will give the waiter high marks for friendliness and his effort.

As far as a “full review” of Angel’s we will get back to you in the next several days and will eat there (minus or vegetarian patron). If any of you have ate at the new Angel’s drop us an email or message and give us your opinion (or any of the other dining and nightlife options on the Drive!).

New Fun & Options on the Drive with Infinity Lounge and Village Pub (opening soon!)

Well it seems that fall is here and that means South Florida’s peek tourist season is not far behind. Yes as the temperature drops up north we get spoiled here and our blessed with sun & fun and have some new nightlife options!

You name it Wilton Drive will have it: places to dine, shop, people watch, workout and grab a drink from all types of bars. The newest bar of the drive is Infinity Lounge. This new lounge is cool, chic, quaint and captures a nitch that really was not on the drive before. With it’s cute and intimate size along with a slightly better dressed crowd (no offense to the other clubs) Infinity Lounge looks like it has met it’s goal.

And what looks like one of the bigger and more anticipated bar openings will be the upcoming Village Pub WM. There have been quite a bit of rumors in regards to exactly what type of bar it will be and the opening date—we will get back to you all on this once we can confirm this. One of our earlier blogs on our sister site (Wilton Drive On Line) rushed to print some material and have just  been told some of the information in the  blog was incorrect. Wilton Drive On Line will have a follow up article and correction on the August 31st blog soon.

No matter how you look at it Wilton Drive is alive and well. So get out and support the many businesses and clubs on the drive.

Hating on Wells Fargo and Wilton Manors Parking

Parking in Wilton Manors has long been a headache to both locals and travelers trying to enjoy the gay paradise.  What is supposed to be a tropical island, often feels like a huge LA expressway jammed with cars and angry, frustrated drivers.

As main street business try to tap into this unique market, they are bringing the typical problems associated with urban sprawl that lacks thought and planning.  Yes, we’re talking about parking or the lack of it.  This has been an ongoing problem in Wilton Manors and it just seems to be getting worse.  A few years ago, the city made a lame attempt to add some public parking when it built the new city building and police department.   Two things about this don’t make any sense.  First, why did they move these new facilities to prime retail space or space that could have been used for parking?  Seriously, whoever is looking for the police station or city building will find it.  It doesn’t need to be front and center.   And while the city did add some public parking next door, it’s not nearly enough.  A stacked parking garage would have made more sense.

Nowhere is parking more of an issue than at Starbucks and Wells Fargo.  Both of these big businesses added locations here to compete with the locals and are very successful.  As a matter of fact, just about everyone I know has had a fender bender in the Starbucks parking lot.  Now, Wells Fargo seems to be just as bad.  It makes no sense that this busy bank has limited parking but has park benches taking up valuable space.  Frustrated customers curse each other as they are blocked in by someone trying to use the ATM.  Customers sneak into the CVS parking lot and duck across the street, trying to get back before their car gets towed.

When will Wilton Manors ever get it right.

Business Review: Go Nuts About Yogurt

If your sweet tooth gets the best of you like mine does, then seeing a new business open like Go Nuts About Yogurt on Wilton Drive seems likes good bet. With its location at 2207 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors it should generate interest.

Once you enter your instantly enticed by the “sweet toppings bars” that are the focal point and in front of the yogurt flavor assortment wall. The color of the walls and décor are soft and almost Willy Wonka meets Sesame Street, think fun and bright. There’s even a back “hang out” lounge that is suppose to get kind of festive later at night as bar hoppers stop in for treat.Nuts about yogurt

Next you’re most likely going to have to decide on a wide range of fruity to some curious flavors (pistachio to red velvet cake). Oh, and yes they have too many to list and something for everyone. I chose the red velvet cake which was suppose to be low in fat? Let’s just say after I loaded it down with several toppings I’m sure it wasn’t too healthy but isn’t that part of fun?

Finally after my visit I left curing my sweet tooth, at least for the moment. Would I go back? You might ask…most definitely. The service was good and helpful and it adds a nice change from the surrounding clubs and bars. So the next time you’re craving something sweet go ahead I say you only live once.

Restaurant Review: Pinche Taqueria

Well it seems like these days a new restaurant opens up every other week, some good, some not. Our taste buds led us to this week’s review of the new Pinche Taqueria located at 2045 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors. With this location smack dab in the heart of Wilton Manors and it’s eye catching store front (service garage door that opens up and splits the inside from the out that really capitalizes and expands the patio feel, and the curiosity walking or driving by). Aside from the unique curbside appeal the look inside continues with a slight Tex-Mex meets Tijuana vibe but in a good way.

Well enough now already about the look and décor and let’s get to service and food! We were greeted nicely by both the bartender and waitress in a timely manner and offered a table fairly quickly. The menu had your typical assortment of breakfast, lunch and dinner options for Mexican food. Yes there was chicken, beef, steak and shrimp available in tacos, burritos and more.

After being seated and browsing the menu we were brought your expected chips and salsa. They had a pretty good tasting chips and salsa (I have always wondered how a Mexican restaurant can screw up and make bad chips and salsa but thank God not here). So once we had several minutes to view the menu and decide we chose burritos one bean and cheese the other shrimp.

Wilton Manors Wants To Be Like Key West

Wilton Manors officials really want their residents and visitors to work it out in their walking shoes!  The city might start allowing homes near businesses and the entertainment district to house cafes, bookstores, salons and gift shops.

The entertainment district in question is called The Triangle.  It is bordered by Wilton Drive, Northeast Sixth Avenue and Northeast 26th Street.

City planners looked at areas like P-town in Massachusetts and Key West when initially developing the proposal.  The voting is scheduled to take place on December 13. It should be interesting to hear what existing business owners have to say about this, what parking plans will look like and what homeowners think of this idea.

Men’s Spa Offers New Services

The Cabanas Guesthouse & Spa recently expanded the menu of their Men’s Day Spa adding microdermabrasion and chemical peels to their list of male skin care services.

Microdermabrasion is a technique that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation with suction to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells.  It’s completely non-invasive and helps diminish fines lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and hyper-pigmentation.

This skin exfoliating procedure costs $125 for one hour and will leave your skin feeling and looking amazing.

A chemical peel is another skin exfoliating treatment technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by using a solution that causes dead skin cells to peel off.  This service leaves the skin smoother and less wrinkled than previous layer of skin.

For chemical peel pricing or for more information on any service that this Fort Lauderdale spa offers contact the Men’s Spa.
